Jenny BM is a Congolese – British Mixed-Media Artist, Graphic Designer & Poet Born in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her family left D.R.C when she was only 15 months old to live in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 1998 her family relocated to West London, England.
Her art is inspired by artists such as Hannah Höch, John Heartfield and Romare Bearden, where layering of different mediums can be seen to be interspersed with collages; mixing editorial style and street art. Pablo Picasso is also a strong influence on her art, with the mixing of her appreciation of female anatomy and the vivid, geometric shapes of Cubism and Neo-Expressionism. Her Collages picks heavily from themes of spirituality, her African heritage and Black culture, highlighting points related to the Heart chakra (Love healing) and the Sacral chakra (Sexuality/Creativity).
