Greek on the Street: One Year On

13 Nov 17

Greek on the Street have mastered the go-to lunch meal at Boxpark Croydon. Their healthy, varied and delicious menu has scored them legions of fans, who continue to queue around the block to score a bargain souvlaki or a fresh Greek lunch box. We sat down with branch manager, Alexandra Parikou, to find out what he made of Boxpark’s first year in Croydon.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

My name is Alexandra and I am the manager of Greek on the Street – units 42-43 at Boxpark Croydon. A number of our customers have referred to us as the “best Greek food place of Croydon”, which is a huge honour.

How would you sum up your first year at Boxpark Croydon?

The first year has been great, not just for me personally as I was promoted to the manager’s position recently, but for the restaurant as well. We have been here since the opening of Boxpark Croydon and it has been a real joy being part of it.  In the past 12 months, we have met many loyal customers who keep coming back for their favourite Greek fix; that is a great achievement for us as it shows we’re doing something right. We constantly try to keep a good quality of food and service. We never rest and we always aim to please our customers.

Have there been any stand-out moments for you in the last 12 months?

One of our best stand-out moments has been the launching of our renewed Lunchbox which had people waiting in line for 20-30 minutes, as the queue was reaching our neighbour units. It brought back memories from our opening days when the people of Croydon queued for a £1 souvlaki wrap, just to get to know us, and it looks like they did. We still have people talking about it sometimes. But the best part in all that, is that people praised us for the service and the quality of food we serve.

For anyone yet to try your menu, what can customers expect from you at Boxpark Croydon?

If you haven’t tried our menu yet then you should definitely come to us, I promise you will be satisfied. We offer great quality dishes, fantastic service and excellent prices. Also, our new Halloumi Fries have been a huge hit with the people of Croydon. They’re great to enjoy as a side, a full meal or even just something to nibble.

Did you attend any of the events at Boxpark over the past year?

We were fortunate enough to witness some great events over the past year. They also brought in lots of new customers and it was a great opportunity to show them what we do.

What is your favourite thing about Croydon?

Croydon is a great place. I moved here so I could be closer to work but I never thought it would feel like home. I like the fact that you have so much choice in shopping, eating, drinking and entertainment, all in close range. You can see and do so much by foot which makes a nice change from the hustle and bustle of central London.

What was the last song you listened to?

Too Good at Goodbyes – Sam Smith
