Monday Movie: Anchorman

10 Sep 18

We thoroughly hoped you star-crossed lovers enjoyed this week’s screening of Baz Lurhmann’s Romeo and Juliet.

Next Monday, we’re entering a ‘glass case of emotion’ as we settle in for some classic comedy capers with Will Ferrell in Anchorman.

If you can believe it Anchorman is 14 years old, but the laughs haven’t faded with age. This relentlessly quotable movie was something of a shock hit at the time and, today, it’s something of a comedy classic. It’s not hard to see why.

Set in San Diego in the 1970s, Anchorman follows the rise and fall of the city’s notorious news anchor, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell). Surrounded by his hilarious cohorts – Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Steve ‘I ate a big red candle’ Carell – Ron Burgundy tries to maintain his iconic reputation following the hiring of his news desk rival, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate). There’s a metric tonne of celebrity cameos in tow as well and the gut-busting belly laughs come think and fast.

I’m telling you gang, 60% of the time it works every time.

So down tools on Monday 17 September and get yourself to Boxpark Croydon; kick back with some delicious food and a cool beverage and settle yourself in for a night of quality entertainment.

You stay classy, Croydon.
