pea {style} ‘s Pop-Up @BOXPARK Shoreditch

17 May 17

Coming up in our unit 26 pop-up is pea {style}. pea {style} is a lifestyle and interiors brand stocking a range of homewares. We caught up with founder Anwen to gain more insight into the brand:

Tell us about who you are and what you do?

Hi My name is Anwen and I run the online lifestyle and homeware shop peastyle. Looking back I’ve always had a passion for interiors, even as a kid, I got my parents to paint a feature wall in my bedroom and asked for a duvet cover to match for Christmas. This was at an age when most kids were asking for Rubics cubes!

My career started out in graphics, years ago and have always loved being creative at work and at home. The transition to peastyle happened around 9 years ago when we moved into a wreck of a country home in South Wales. Renovating our home and taking it back to it’s bare bones was a massive project that I had longed for, so when the right house popped up on the market, we jumped at the chance at moving out to the country to spread out with a growing family.

Cue the big career change ….. baby number 3 on the way, massive house renovation on our hands, my love for tangible interior products bubbling ever closer to the surface while styling our newly renovated home, this is really where peastyle comes in.

peastyle is a family run business and has evolved from what used to be a vintage furniture business to what it is now, a homewares brand that reflects my love for stylish minimalist Scandi Chic interiors and gifts. We also deliver a Home Styling and Interior Decorating Service which goes hand in hand with product selection.

My passion for new and fresh interior trends will always make peastyle evolve. Scanning Instagram and Pinterest is part and parcel of my work, keeping up with the latest interior trends, but honestly it doesn’t feel like work because I love what I do and hope that shines through the peastyle brand.

Which song best sums up your brand and why?

Ooo this is a tricky one. I love music and wanted this to be a song that is indicative of my taste yet reflected the brand. I came up with “Changes” by David Bowie. An icon that isn’t afraid to stand out and also changes and evolves over time.

What can we expect from your stay at BOXPARK?

I’m beyond excited about popping up at BOXPARK. We’ve long been a fan of heading over to Shoreditch to soak up the exciting atmosphere there. It’s dynamic, ever evolving, pretty darn cool and FUN! all the things I strive for in building the peastyle brand.

BOXPARK opens late on a Thursday evening, when we’ll be open until 8pm, a perfect chance to get social! We’ll be popping some fizz and inviting visitors to share a glass with us from 5.30pm onwards. We love to meet new people, chat and hearing all about what you think of our collection. We’ll also be collaborating with BOXPARK over an exciting giveaway across social media channels.

What item form your current collection is your favourite and why?

Stylish Storage for me is such a winner, not only do you get something that looks great, it also has the added bonus of having somewhere to hide a load of clutter.

It’s hard to choose a favourite item from the peastyle collection, but if I have to, it has to be the ever popular Le Sac en Papier.

A paper bag, that’s it! it’s such a simple storage idea but they have a big style impact. We use them around the house for plants, scarves, shoes even to hide a bale of loo rolls. I just love their minimalist monochrome style, the perfect antidote to clutter.

Which BOXPARK brand are you most excited about appearing about appearing alongside and why?

I think it has to be DECORUM – I’ve long been a fan of their easy and effortless homestyle. I’m looking forward to popping in on a lunch break! I’m also looking forward to browsing the UTTER COTURE store, I may be needing something stylish to wear to look the part for the week!

What’s the best reason to come to Shoreditch for a shopping spree and why?

The best reason to come to Shoreditch for a shopping spree is that it’s never the same twice. Time and time again you get an eclectic mix of independents with real passion and energy for their brand and that rubs off and can only make you feel good.

What’s your top Shoreditch tip?

My top tip ……. wear stretchy trousers! we tend to eat SO much when in Shoreditch. There’s an endless choice of cool places to fill your belly and quench your thirst. Our favourite places to hang out are Dishoom, Pizza East, The Hoxton and The Breakfast Club. We also get drawn to Columbia Road Flower market if we happen to be around on a Sunday, it’s a real feast for the eyes. Of course no trip to Shoreditch would be complete without a stroll through BOXPARK, soaking up the energetic vibe that the area gives off, it’s intoxicating.

What does the future hold for your brand? Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Being online is where it’s at for us, it gives us the flexibility to pop-up in different locations and I think this keeps the peastyle brand fresh and exciting. So in 5 years time, we see ourselves still having fun sourcing beautiful homewares and gifts, travelling the country popping up in dynamic locations like BOXPARK and meeting our lovely customers face to face.

You can catch pea {style}’s pop-up from Tuesday 31st May – Sunday 4th June!
