RECAP: England v Scotland Screening at BOXPARK Croydon

19 Jun 21

The fans were out in force again for England’s crunch match with Scotland at EURO 2020. BOXPARK Croydon on a Friday night; the stage was set for a thrilling occasion.

Jay Knox got the crowd warmed up from as early as 3 hours before kick-off as ticket holders arrived early to take part in the pre-match buzz.

Elz the Witch was once again on-hand to preview through the game with football legend Neil “Razor” Ruddock, who even got the crowd going with a rendition of “Sweet Caroline” (this track is becoming a bit of a staple at BOXPARK Croydon so far this tournament).

Then it was down to the action and whilst the national anthem was belted out by everyone inside, the action on the pitch didn’t quite match up to the passion off it as the two rivals played out a 0-0 stalemate.

On the plus side, the result means England are virtually through to the last 16 with 4 points on the board. A win versus Czech Republic in their final game will see them win the group, but Southgate and co will have their eyes on how the other groups play out. It may turn out that a draw in their final game could see them avoid the runner-up of the group of death, which features the world champions France, European champions Portugal and former world champions Germany. Some will argue that England will need to beat the best at some point. Either way, things are about to get interesting.

See you on Tuesday.
