Spotlight: Arancina

22 Mar 17

Brothers, Edoardo and Michele brought their popular Arancina Italian street-food parlour from the vibrant streets of Rome to the cosmopolitan noise of London in 2005. Since then, their authentic menu and warm, hospitable environment has garnered huge popularity for it’s definitively Rome-like ambience. Londoners and Italians alike have fallen in love with the delicious menu available at Arancina and so we caught up with Edoardo to find out more.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

Hey, I’m Edoardo from Arancina Pizzeria; we specialise in Pizza alla Pala (metre long pizzas) and Arancine risotto balls.

Our best-selling pizza alla pala is completely unique as it’s made with our secret Arancina-owned recipe. While most pizzerias focus on toppings, for us it’s ‘all about that base’ which is intentionally designed as a street-food, to eat on-the-go, by the slice (pizza al taglio), or as individual pizzas. The signature Arancina pizza is made of a hand-stretched dough that rises for a crisp outer crust and a textured, light, airy centre. It is topped with only the freshest ingredients sourced direct from Italy for the ultimate authentic experience.

We’re proud to welcome over 6000 customers a week in both of our west London branches as well as our new home at Boxpark Croydon.

Which song best sums up your brand?

Edwin Starr – War
Just listen to it! It’s so energetic, we love it!

What can customers expect from you at Boxpark Croydon?

Customers can expect fresh and authentic ingredients that come together to create great food that is not only tasty but also healthy in many ways. We’ve definitely got a cool vibe which makes Arancina a fun place to be and we serve up great Italian drinks too!

What is your favourite item from your menu?

Can I say 2? It’s too hard to choose just one! Well, pizza wise, the Paletta Romana definitely. It’s a work of art: white base, mozzarella, potatoes, pork sausage and fresh rosemary. I know, potatoes on pizza! Carbs on carbs?! But just try it, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Second one is the suppli, the Roman brother of the Arancina. It’s a deep fried beef ragu risotto ball with a delicious heart of melted mozzarella. Yum!

Which other Boxpark Croydon trader would you recommend to customers?

Again, it’s too hard to pick just one but, if I have to, then I guess my favourite would be Coqfighter. Their chicken menu is unreal.

What is your favourite thing about Croydon?

I love the people of Croydon. There’s a totally different vibe here to Notting Hill and it’s a really interesting place to be.

Finally, what would your last meal on Earth be and why?

The Suppli Feast! Until I explode!
