Benny Page has been dominating the bass music scene for over a decade. His mixes, remixes and show stopping productions have won him legions of loyal fans. This weekend, he’ll be gracing the Boxpark Croydon stage with a whole host of legendary artists and producers. We caught up with him to find out more about his own musical influences and what you can expect this Saturday at Rum ‘n’ Riddim.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

My name is Benny Page and I am a drum ‘n’ bass producer and DJ.

What first drew you to the bass music scene?

A family friend got me in to jungle music in the late 90s and I have been hooked on rave/bass music ever since.

Who have been some of your biggest musical influences?

DJ Hype, Shy FX, Groove Armada and Dr Dre would be some of the artists that first spring to mind.

Who have been some of your favourite collaborators over the years?

Working with vocalist’s like David Boomah and MC Spyda have definitely been real career highlights. I’ve also been fortunate enough to collaborate with the legendary Congo Natty , as well as my work on Digital Soundboy with Shy FX.

What can visitors expect from you at Rum’N’Riddim at Boxpark Croydon?

There’s going to be lots of heavy bass and big vibes.

What was the last song you listened to?

Roy Ayres – Everybody Loves The Sunshine; it’s a timeless classic. I also have a free download that I made specifically for Rum ‘n’ Riddim, which you can find here.
