Tell us who you are and what you do.

I am Sandra Omari a multi-genre international DJ based in London. I DJ at parties around London most weekends and have DJ’d for quite a brands such as Ted Baker, Malibu rum and Hype clothing. I am a resident DJ at Supa Dupa Fly, Rock The Belles and Boxpark Shoreditch.

I also co-own a fashion and music lifestyle blog called with celebrity stylist/DJ, Safiya Yekwai, who has styled the likes of Stormzy, Kojey Radical. Mostack and Cassie. has an online readership of approximately 4000 hits a month. Through our blog, we interview artists, we showcase designers and we throw sick bi-monthly parties.

When did you first realise you wanted to be a DJ?

I have always been really into music. During my childhood, I was a big fan of RnB and Hip Hop; listening to groups such as Wu-Tang Clan, SWV, Total, as thats all my Dad used to play in the house. During my teenage years, I was really into Rock/Indie music; bands such as Incubus, Panic! at the Disco and The Klaxons. Music has always been ‘My Thing’ and I knew very early on that I wanted a career in music.

Around 2 or 3 years ago, I was dabbling in music production and a friend of mine said that the best producers were DJ’s beforehand, Timbaland, Dr Dre, etc. Initially, I learnt how to DJ in order to help improve my production skills. Not long after that I fell in love with DJing and it all went from there. I’m hoping to get back into music production one day, but for now I’m loving this DJ journey.

Who are some of your biggest influences in music?

My two biggest musical influences couldn’t be more different from each other.  I’m a 90s Kid, so growing up I was obsessed with the singer, Brandy. For a black girl to have her own TV show, movies, her own Barbie doll and chart hits; it had a really big impact on me. It gave me a sense of pride and drive from a very early age.

In the present time, my biggest musical influence has to be UK rapper, Giggs. Every tune he releases is a banger and I love both his off-stage and on-stage personas; gritty but humble. In my opinion, he is a true British musical icon. I always have to drop some Giggs in my DJ sets.

What have been some standout moments for you so far?

DJing for Emeli Sande has definitely been a highlight. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I also DJ’d at an official party for HBO’s Game Of Thrones alongside Reggie Yates. My overseas bookings this year have also been wild. I DJ’d in Santorini for Supa Dupa Fly, which was absolutely amazing. I also played to thousands in Belgium at Couleur Cafe Festival 2018, which was headlined by Young Thug and D’angelo.

What can visitors expect from your sets at Boxpark Shoreditch?

I love playing at Boxpark Shoreditch, as the crowd is always so diverse with great energy. If I play an early evening set I like to play sing-a-long RnB, Hip Hop and UK vibes such as Aaliyah or Yxng Bane. My later sets are more hype, where I love to play more Afrobeats, UK and Hip Hop/Trap to get the crowd going. You will hear everything from Wizkid to Stefflon Don to Migos.

Who should everyone be listening to right now?

I’m listening to a lot of, US rapper, Gunna at the moment. I really like his style and I think he is one of the hottest rappers on the scene right now. Rapper One Acen is also dropping a lot of great music right now. There are so many females on the scene who are killing it at the moment -IAMDDB, Ms Banks, Ray BLK and Flohio.

What does the rest of 2018 have in store for you?

211 Girls have got so many things in the pipeline, which is very exciting. We will be throwing parties much more regularly and have some exciting brand partnerships in the works. Most recently we worked with Jaded LDN for London Pride.

I also can’t wait to play in Ibiza in September 2018, with my all female DJ crew, Rock The Belles. We are taking over Ibiza Rocks Hotel for four days and four nights of Hip Hop club, pool and boat parties. We are also throwing a joint pool party with Craig David while we are out there. I’m literally counting down the days. Its going to be epic!
