Spotlight: Yumn

6 Mar 17

One of the crown jewels in South Croydon’s popular Restaurant Quarter is Yumn Brasserie.

Yumn has worked hard to bring fine food and a quality dining experience to the people of Croydon and, where possible, they have used the best locally sourced ingredients in all of their dishes. Last year, Yumn brought their exquisite menu to Boxpark Croydon. We caught up with, restaurant manager, Faisal to find out how Yumn keeps it so fancy.

Tell us who you are and what you do.

Yumn has been operating out of its croydon base for nearly 2.5 years. As a family run business, we try to place our own values at the heart of the company; maintaining a close knit team and offering good honest food and cocktails. The concept started as a reaction to Croydon's potential, growth and wonderfully quirky residents.

Which song best sums up your brand?

We're loving Calm Down by J Bernardt at the moment. It's effortlessly cool and sets a great tone.

What can customers expect from you at Boxpark Croydon?

Delicious food and wonderfully crafted cocktails! It's a little known fact that our bartenders have been crafting their own bitters, marmalades and infusing spirits.  All this accompanied by a great soundtrack and laid back atmosphere.

What is your favourite dish from your menu?

I usually love anything Italian, but our Thai Chicken Curry is stealing the show at the moment!

What is your favourite cocktail from your menu?

It has to be our Old Fashioned. A joy to make too, the moment when the scent from the orange zest mixes with the wood chip smoke is mind blowing!

Which other Boxpark Croydon trader would you recommend to customers?

Coqfighter, hands down. Absolute Filth!

What is your favourite thing about Croydon?

Its eclectic mix of people! Some of the business indication is outstanding and it has a burgeoning art scene at the moment. Those are three things off the bat but, personally, Croydon has been my home for 28 years and I'll always love it and champion it.

If you were on death row, what would be your last meal and why?

Easy. Anything cooked by my mum, eaten at the dining table at home surrounded by my family. Mum's cooking is actually quite legendary and she often tries to sneak in a recipe or two in to our menu...
